Playing Holdem Free Just For fun and entertainment. You can also learn a few things. I like to pick a game that has a mid level average pot size. For the fun of poker. A poker game that has a low level average pot size really is a poker game.
The high average pot game.
Be it Texas Holdem, 7 card stud, or Omaha will be full of
folks who have no idea how to play poker. They typically
have the max raise going on for almost every card. You will
have seven or eight people calling the hand after the river.
I only play in these games when I want to practice patience.
It is kind of fun sitting back, dumping hand after hand and
waiting. About two or three times an hour I will get delt a
hand that has some promise. If they don't show the same
promise after the flop, I dump those too.
The mid range pot game is a
lot better. You will see some folks that actually know how
to play poker and will respect your raises and catch on
quick that you are playing a tight fisted poker game. I
don't spend too much time in these because the mixture of
players does not really reflect what will happen in a real
money hold em game.
The game that shows it has a
low average pot is my cup of tea. Most of the time, not
always, you will find real poker players. Folks that are
really trying to learn how to play Holdem or players who are
brushing up on their skills. Lots of times I will play in a
free Holdem game before I switch over to real money poker,
just to see how the cards are falling. I know, I know. How
the cards are falling in a free poker game do not have a
damn thing to do with what will happen in a real money game.
Poker players are superstitious, and I am one of
them.
You might find yourself
playing across from a guy who is playing right by the book.
What luck! Because if you are serious about playing Texas
Holdem you have already read lots of books on the subject.
You now know almost exactly what he is going to do in almost
every situation. Poker is War and you are not interested in
prisoners. Exploit every weakness. This is about making
money. That is how you keep score. How to play these Texas Holdem

For a poker player there are some choices to make
here:
Lots of people think that Texas Holdem Poker is a game of
luck. While there is some luck involved there are very many
times that you can make your own luck. It just takes lots
and lots of skill to do it.
A lot of the luck that you make for yourself will be
involved with playing your position to the maximum. If you
are acting as the dealer or, "On the button" as it is called
you have the leeway to play much more agressively because
you already have information about all the other players
hands. Did they call, raise, or fold? If you are first to
bet then you have to, first of all, play fewer hands, and
second, play conservatively.
