If you are going to play Texas Holdem and win you have to have an understanding of the odds. There are many kinds, but you will use the outs and pot odds most of the time. You will see all kinds of formulas for figuring outs and odds. To understand some of them you would have to have an advanced degree in mathematics.
7
card stud They
remind me high school algebra and how they were always
asking, "What is x." I did not care and never got close to
figuring out what they were talking about. Outs are simply
how many cards are left that are useful to your hand. Since
you get two cards for free right of the bat you have to
start there. You know that there are fifty-two cards in the
deck. That they are divided into four suits. The start at
the top with ace and go down through, king, queen, jack and
the 10,9,8, etc. all the way to 2.
If you are dealt A/K suited
you know that there are 3 more Acres out there, 3 more
Kings, 12 diamonds and 12 spades. You will get to see five
more cards. Anything that you don't see, someone else can
have.
There are also lots of
complicated formulas for figuring out pot odds. I just look
at the stack. Is it a big stack? If so, it might be worth a
shot. If it is a little stack. Who cares?
How To Play Different
Texas Holdem Hands
There are thousands of Texas
Holdem Hands. You must learn to play the people, as well as
play the cards if you are going to have any success playing
Texas Holdem for money.
Poker Face
Pull up a chair and sit down
at the table. Stack your chips in front of you and like
everyone else in the game play with them incessantly. But
wait. Are you giving away the strength of your hand by the
way you arrange your chips? The TELL in poker is a valuable
tool for you if you know what to look for in another player.
If you have one then you are giving away the farm to any one
who is paying attention. The idea of a, "poker face" is not
just a romantic convention for a novel. It has real world
consequences. If you grin like an idiot every time you have
a good hand then quit playing before you go broke.

Tournaments
The biggest difference
between a tournament and a regular game is in the tournament
you play to survive and get to the final table. That is
where you get in the money.
It is not the size of your
dick in a tournament. It is the size of your chip stack. If
you go all in against the chip leader and loose. You are
out. He has survived. Position on the table becomes more
important that in a regular game. be aware of where you are.
If you get to act before someone who has a short stack you
may be able to knock him out of the game with a
raise.
Right now in Las Vegas you
can play in a low entry fee tournament 24 hours a day seven
days a week if that is what you want. The $10.00 and $20.00
buy in tournaments can make you money and best of all can
give your the experience necessary to play in some higher
cost tournaments.
It has happened more than
once that a player has started out playing Texas holdem
online and has ended up at the final table in Las Vegas
looking at millions of dollars
